No-exam life insurance

Understanding which applicants fast-track without exams, how the process works, and what happens if you do not qualify for the expedited path.

A growing number of carriers offer expedited underwriting: for applicants within defined age and amount ranges, decisions come from the application form, prescription histories, motor-vehicle records, and similar data—without a medical exam. Many decisions arrive within hours. This site shows for each quote whether an exam is required, likely, or not needed.

What it changes

Skipping a medical exam does not mean skipping underwriting entirely. The carrier validates your answers and checks prescription records and driving history. If a policy is issued with false information, the carrier can contest it during the first two years. Questions from the carrier's data review may still require exam or lab results; you can choose at that point whether to continue.

Who tends to qualify

Most applicants below age 60 applying for amounts within the carrier's fast-track limits, with no serious health history and no tobacco use in the past year or longer, qualify for accelerated review. If you have had recent blood work from a doctor's visit, some carriers accept those existing lab results instead of ordering new tests.

A paramedical examiner typically comes to your home or office in the Windsor area for a 20- to 30-minute appointment at no charge to you. For healthy applicants, exam results can actually improve your rate class, so an exam is not inherently a disadvantage.
